New Zealand situated in the southwest Pacific, west across the Tasman Sea and across Australia. New Zealand consists of North Island and South Island, an area of nearly 270,000 square kilometers, a coastline of 6900 km. Sometime between 1250 and 1300 CE, Polynesians settled in the islands that later were named New Zealand.
